Allen is listed at position 1 in Litigation Band 2 and ranked in Dispute Resolution Band 2 by Chambers Global Legal Directory.
He is an experienced Chartered Arbitrator and former Director of Nairobi Centre for International Arbitration. Allen is an active member of both the Court of Appeal and Commercial and Tax Division Bar Bench Committees.
Allen participated in drafting Kenya’s Court Mandated Mediation Rules (2005), Advocates Remuneration Orders (2006 and 2014). In 2014, Allen was part of the team that drafted the three practice directions for Environment and Land Court, the Commercial and Tax Division Court of the High Court and Court of Appeal. In 2020, he was a co-convenor in reviewing the Chartered Arbitration Rules that were adopted in 2020, which are the most progressive Rules in Eastern African. In December 2019, Allen was awarded with the Elder of the Older of the Burning Spear (E.B.S.) Award for his exemplary service in areas of law reform and service to the country.
Allen served as the 48th President of the Law Society of Kenya, where he left a legacy of reform, innovation and international collaboration with bar associations.
He has facilitated lecture talks to over 10,000 students and officers in topical and contemporary litigation issues. Allen is the celebrated author of Litigation- The Art of Strategy and Practice, Nairobi: 2017
